The eSIM is Free of Charge and it can only be accessed using My Airtel App. Please note that this is Self Service and does not require you to walk into any Airtel Shop.
Yes, it is very easy to convert a physical SIM into an eSIM.
First, Download and register My Airtel App on Your device here https://bit.ly/3uHW9jm if it is not already Installed.
Click on More, in the bottom right of the App, and select Upgrade to eSIM.
Follow the instructions on My Airtel App.
• Enter the OTP (SMS) that verifies your Mobile number.
• Enter OTP sent to Your email to verify where the eSIM QR Code will be shared.
• An email with the QR code will be sent to your verified email.
• Once you receive the Email, Kindly follow instructions therein on how to Install the eSIM.
• Scan the QR Code and Activate it to be your default for Voice and Data.
Any devices that support an eSIM feature are compatible for Airtel eSIM, so you need not worry. You can choose from Apple’s iPhone, Google’s Pixel smartphones, Samsung, and Motorola devices when it comes to compatibility for your new Airtel eSIM card.
• On My Airtel App, once you select ‘Upgrade to eSIM’ icon, it will require you to confirm the device you would like to register for eSIM, once you confirm, it will read compatibility of the device.
• Dial *#06# and if you see EID, this means your device is e-sim compatible.
EID stands for "eSIM ID" or "eSIM Identifier." The EID is a unique identifier associated with an eSIM card.
MEID stands for "Mobile Equipment Identifier." It is a globally unique identifier assigned to mobile devices, such as smartphones and tablets, to uniquely identify them on cellular networks. Kindly note that MEID is different from EID. A phone is only eSIM compatible if it shows EID.
The Airtel eSIM card usually takes up to 2 minutes for activation. During this period, your existing physical card will stop working. One important thing to note here is that you need to scan the QR code immediately you receive it.
To activate an eSIM on a Samsung smartphone
A unique QR code will be given to you - please use this QR code to activate the eSIM.
• Choose Settings, then Connections
• Tap SIM card manager and then Settings.
• Choose Add using QR Code, then scan your unique QR code.
Permanently removing or disabling your eSIM is quite simple. Do not worry! All you have to do is follow the instructions given below:
• Go to the settings of your eSIM card.
• Choose the ‘Delete’ option to permanently delete your eSIM profile!
