Airtel Handset Financing is an option for Airtel’s existing customers to upgrade from 2Gor 3G handsets to 4G smartphones at an affordable upfront payment, with flexible dailyor weekly repayment plans.
Currently, the Itel A50 handset is available. More models may be introduced in thefuture.
All existing Airtel customers with an active SmartCash account can apply. Eligibility canbe checked by dialing *492#
- Original National ID (copy or physical)
- No active Airtel loan under device credit scheme
- Active Airtel SmartCash account
- Next-of-kin contact details (must be verifiable online)
- Minimum cash-in of ₦19,000 or ₦21,000 in SmartCash account for down payment
Payments can be made via the Airtel App or by dialing *492#, selecting option 1, andthen option 4 for loan repayment.
The smartphone will be locked if a repayment is missed. It unlocks automatically oncerepayment is made and data connectivity is active.
The customer remains liable for full loan repayment. A police report with IMEI detailsshould be filed, after which Airtel will block the handset to prevent misuse.
Yes. Dial *492# from any Airtel SIM to make payment and unlock the phone.
Visit any CarlCare Service Center or an Airtel Shop for assistance.
Yes. Customers get 100MB daily data (valid for 24 hours) after each successful weeklyrepayment. Data does not roll over.

The phone will remain locked until all missed payments are cleared. For example, twoweeks of default require two weeks’ payment before unlocking
Yes. Customers may pay for multiple weeks at once (e.g., 1 week = ₦5,800, 2 weeks =₦11,600, 3 weeks = ₦17,600)
Yes. Full repayment is allowed. Customers should check *492# for their outstandingbalance before paying.
The device will remain permanently unlocked.
Airtel reserves the right to use all legal and authorized means to recover the financedsmartphone.
Two options: a 4-month plan and a 6-month plan
4-month plan: ₦21,000 initial payment, ₦5,800 weekly repayment.
6-month plan: ₦19,000 initial payment, ₦4,500 weekly repayment.
Airtel chose weekly payments to make repayment cycles easier and more manageablefor customers, as monthly payments may be too high.
